Acting Cebu City Mayor Advocates Cash Incentives for Palarong Pambansa Medalists

In a bid to recognize and celebrate the exceptional achievements of Cebu City athletes in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa 2024, Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia has unveiled plans to propose the allocation of a budget for cash incentives to be awarded to medal-winning athlets from the city.

Speaking during an interview at the Cebu City Sports Center on the eve of the Palarong Pambansa's commencement, Garcia voiced his commitment to honoring and rewarding athletes who showcase exemplary performance and bring honor to Cebu City through their athletic feats.

Expressing his intent to initiate discussions with the City Council regarding the provision of cash incentives for medalists, Garcia emphasized the significance of acknowledging the dedication and hard work put forth by athletes in representing the city on the national stage.

"We will engage in dialogue with the City Council to explore the allocation of a specific budget for this purpose. While the final decision rests with the City Council, I am eager to propose this initiative as a means of recognizing the exceptional achievements of our athletes," Garcia affirmed.

With Cebu City maintaining a distinguished reputation as a perennial champion in the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA), the proposal for cash incentives serves as a testament to the city's unwavering support and appreciation for its talented athletes who continuously excel in regional and national sporting arenas.

The initiative spearheaded by Acting Mayor Garcia underscores the city's commitment to nurturing a culture of excellence, incentivizing athletes to strive for greatness, and fostering a conducive environment that empowers them to achieve their full potential.

As Cebu City prepares to make its mark in the Palarong Pambansa 2024 and compete against formidable adversaries from across the country, the proposal for cash incentives stands as a tangible demonstration of the city's pride in its sporting talents and a fitting tribute to the dedication and passion exhibited by its athletes in pursuit of sporting glory.
